Idaho sheriff's deputies make meth bust in Blackrock areaPOCATELLO, Idaho - Bannock County, Idaho Sheriff's deputies arrested Pocatello residents Jason Miles and Rose Miranda at about 4: 30 p.m. Saturday in the Blackrock, Idaho area on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, drug paraphernalia, and felony injury to a child.
Idaho Deputy Phil Nickel made the arrest while following up on a call for an unattended child wandering near a trailer parked in an area designated for loading and unloading motorcycles and ATVs.
Upon arrival, Nickel noticed two vehicles parked near the trailer. One of them was registered to James Miles, who was wanted on outstanding warrants.
"We had been looking for Jason for a while on suspicion of drug activity," said Sheriff Lorin Nielsen.
Following a search of the trailer, Nielsen said deputies confiscated 3.7 grams of methamphetamine, a small amount of marijuana, $866 in cash, glass pipes, bongs, meth pipes, spoons with meth residue, rifles, a shotgun, and loaded handguns. The handguns were within the suspects' reach when they were apprehended.
The child, a 4-year old boy, was taken into protective custody with the Idaho Department of Heath and Welfare and placed with his grandparents.
"It was good police work," Nielsen said. "No one got hurt, we were able to take the stuff off the street and get the child into better hands."
Miranda was scheduled to appear Monday for arraignment at the Bannock County courthouse. Miles' court date is set for October 27.
The investigation is ongoing with further charges pending.
